Hello
Over 2 days I had a recent multiple dropped connection, caused by BT Openreach working on lines etc. in street.
After 2 days router stats were:
DSL Connection
Link Information
Uptime: 2 days, 3:43:32
DSL Type: G.992.5 annex A
Maximum Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,056 / 2,644
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 443 / 184
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/MB]: 7.64 / 26.43
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.5 / 8.5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 28.0 / 44.5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 25.0 / 28.5
Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / IFTN
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 131,258 / 0
Read on another post that a reboot can help - so I tried a router restart, stats now:
DSL Connection
Link Information
Uptime: 0 days, 1:31:01
DSL Type: G.992.3 annex A
Maximum Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,064 / 5,348
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 443 / 280
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/MB]: 1.82 / 9.04
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.5 / 10.5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 28.0 / 46.5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 25.0 / 33.0
Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / IFTN
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Should I have left connection alone?
Do I now have to restart the 72 hour period for IP reset?
Any other tips to help or should I leave well alone?
Derek

Hi Stumpy21,
Were these disconnections today you rebooting the router? Your sync rate is right down now because your SNR is really high. Can you plug directly into the test socket, not using any extensions?

Hi Jojo
Thanks for the message.
Only the Thursday 12.00 and Saturday 13.30 disconnections were me.
My TG585 log does not show the previous xDSL linestate disconnects. Currently showing uptime as 0 days, 23:27:25.
Though log does show a ppp link down. Is that - would that - count as a disconnect?
Jul 24 04:52:11
PPP link up (Internet) [87.114.97.157]
Jul 24 04:52:11
GRP Default destination is routed via gateway 87.114.97.157
Jul 24 04:52:11
PPP CHAP Chap receive success : authentication ok
Jul 24 04:52:10
PPP CHAP Receive challenge (rhost = THN-AG1)
Jul 24 04:52:10
PPP CHAP Receive challenge (rhost = bras-red3.sl)
Jul 24 04:52:02
FIREWALL event (1 of 27): created rules
Jul 24 04:51:59
GRP Default destination is not routed anymore via gateway 91.125.42.197
Jul 24 04:51:59
PPP link down (Internet) [91.125.42.197]
I only have one socket, no extensions. It does not have the test socket, I did disconnect the ring wire a while ago (followed info at kitz.co.uk).
Current Max bandwidth of approx 5300 kbps is my normal figure for this line.

Hi Stumpy21,
I'm not sure what might have caused that disconnection this morning. Other than that, it's been stable. I'm torn between telling you to raise a fault or to wait it out and see. It's your call.

Hi Jojo
Best leave alone I think. Received more info since last post.
Letter through door today says, Openreach is doing major work this week, replacing all the cables between the cabinet to the top of the telegraph poles, in preparation for Fibre Broadband due this October.
So could end up with a better connection.
They haven't done the pole that feeds our house yet. So looks like we are in for more disconnects before it is finished.
I'll do a new post when the work is finished, and after the 72 hrs, if things don't improve.

Blimey, that sounds rough - hope it's over quickly and doesn't cause you much more service disruption 😕
