What the ? - line drops when I switch on phone.

As soon as I switch on the phone (dect phone - button equivalent of lifting handset) The broadband connection drops.
I've tried 3 microfilters - all the same.
There is also noise on the phone line. We had a call about the noise with BT a few weeks ago, but it was closed, because the noise vanished of its own accord.

Any ideas? (PS - we don't have a master socket with test socket)

Does the noise on the line still exist when you disconnect your ADSL router from it;s phone socket? If yes then all the filters you have tried are not of good enough quality to filter out the ADSL signalling. Many 'cheap' filters have problems with DECT phones. I recommend XF-1e Professional ADSL Microfilter.
If the noise still exists with router disconnected then raise a voice fault but don't mention ADSL.

is there any noise with the broadband disconnected/
there are some reports that some DECT phones need two filters one after the other.
my set up is like yours, no master Socket, dect master near to router, plus two dect extensions.  plus two other normal phones but I dont have any trouble.
the next thing to try is get a standard phone, plug that in, take out the dec and see if that causes the line to drop

Thanks for the suggestions - will give them a try.
PS - one thing to be aware of though - This is unlikely to be a fundamental problem with the line filters. I have four identical, (3 have been unused). The one in use has been fine for years - but now I have the problem. The fact that none of the other 3 fixes it, suggests it is not the filter at fault.

Do you get noise on your line?
It's more likely to be a voice line fault than a broadband one.

Its one of those things you should have, in a power loss situation a Dect phone will not work, A standard phone will, it takes its power from BT. so you can then phone the emmergency services

Can you just humour me and try double filtering the DECT phone?
Ie:  socket -> filter -> filter -> DECT Phone
Make sure you plug the ADSL router into the filter that is directly plugged into the wall socket.
