The money in those days had a nice ring to their names; farthing (although I am too young to have actually spent it), ha'penny, tu'ppence, thru'ppence, sixpence (as opposed to six pence), shilling, 2 bob, 5 bob, half-crown, crown, 10 bob, guinea - Things seemed cheaper, too lol
I think my favourite coin was the thru'penny bit - don't make 'em like that anymore.

And let's not forget the florin.
Back then, 2/6 (two & six or two shillings and sixpence) seemed so much furrther away from a £ than 12.5p does today.
Funny thing, though, I still tend to say tu'pence, thru'pence, etc. wrong - but I like it

Sorry to be pedantic (and I know I'm a bit late), but 2/6 is the same as half a crown, and 5 bob was the same as a crown
I'm old enough to have just learned to multiply £sd as it went out. There's no way that could be done at GCSE!! Multiply the pennies, divide by 12, put down the remainder ............

I know Just wanted to point out the many ways we could say the same value. Today 25p is just that - boring 25p
