What happened to 'Ask a Quesion'

This was one of the only ways to actually get hold of someone without sitting on hold on the phone line, and now this is gone too?! I first signed up to plusnet several years ago but in the last 2 years the reliability has dropped to an appalling standard and if I ever can actually get through to someone they have the nerve to tell me it's at 'top speed' and all they suggest is an engineer - there have been countless engineers - the problem is not at my end!!!!

 

It's not even clear how to get out of the contract - i'm a few months away from the end and don't want to renew, nor do I want to be stuck with a bill for over £50 for falling out of contract. If I switch to EE, does this automatically shut down?

@Clairejp90 If you mean the 'ticket/question' system, that was a 'streamlining' decision a few years back. If you want help, and  don't want to sit on the phone for hours, it is a good idea to post details of your issue on the relevant board, and Community members will  try to help. PN staff go patrol these forums, but not all the time, and will offer help also.

I think you may have a fundimental misconception.

If you "change to EE" (unless it's a mobile delivered service) all the things that make Plusnet unreliable will still be there.

You will still be using the same phone line and Openreach infrastructure you will just have a different coloured plastic box in your house.

This is more or less equally true of any supplier except Virgin Media who (if they serve your area) use different infrastructure. You may also have the choice of some kind of "alternative network" with their own infrastructure.

If the phone line delivered service is unreiable, what you really need is "full fibre" which brings a new (fibre) connection to your home.

Have a look at a broadband comparison site (I would try MoneySaving Expert - https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/compare-broadband-deals/ ) put your postcode in and see what is available.

If there are any choices in the "100Mb+ Superfast Fibre" speed that will be something that doesn't use your phone line and that's what you want. Some of these come without a landline which may or may not be a problem for you.

Any switch to a new supplier using your phone line will end your Plusnet contract.

For more or less all suppliers, the contract has a minimum term. With Plusnet you have a "discount" for the contract term so the discount ends (and the cost goes up) once the minimum term is complete.

The best thing to do is to recontract (or move to a different supplier) one month before you complete your minimum term.

At the risk of starting something, what is the problem you have had with the Plusnet service?
