What do I need to do to lower my target SNR margin back down to 6db?

I've been running happily for years with a 6db target SNR margin on a speedtouch 585v6.  Unfortunately, that's started to overheat and reboot several times a day so...
I made the mistake of switching routers to a 2wire for a few days, and although it initially gave a higher sync speed, I think it was reporting lots of errors, for within a day, my target SNR margin had risen to 9db.
I've since switched to a plusnet-branded speedtouch 585v7, and this is currently running very happily at 9db... but the number of errors are so few that I know it would also work just fine at 6db.  The v7 doesn't allow me to tweak the target snr margin using dmt like the old v6 did, so I'm wondering what's the best route on getting my target snr margin lowered.
Should I just stay connected for 14 days+ and hope it magically decreases?  I'm not sure of what the current BT logic is, and what would mess it up.
Thanks.

It should decrease on its own.
Give it a bit of time and see if it does.  Otherwise we can raise it with BT.

OK, will give it a week or two.  Thanks. Smiley

I believe the official line is that it will take a minimum of 28 days of stable connection without significant numbers of errors or re-sync events.
In practice, from personal experience it took about 7 weeks.

7 weeks!  /cry Smiley
That's what really annoys me about the BT implementation.  You have a little problem and it notices and messes you up for days or weeks.  If they're so quick to reduce the bras profile and increase target snr margin, they should be just as quick putting it back Smiley
