What can I expect from 21CN?

Although I live on the edge of a decent-sized city - Exeter - my phone line comes through a satellite exchange. This has few residential customers and so has never had any LLU presences to bring down prices. So, it's always been "garden variety" up-to-8Mb/sec ADSL. Since moving to PlusNet, my actual speed has always been around 5.2-5.6Mb/sec. Well, it's OK to stream HD video but everywhere else on the main exchange does much better. However, I now see from SamKnows that the exchange has now been upgraded to 21CN WBC status. Whoopee - but what does that actually mean? Am I likely to see any benfits from this?

Jim,
I'd be cautious with expectation setting.  The page you referred to states...

It is also worth pointing out that attenuation is calculated differently for adsl and adsl2+, and its not unusual to see an increase of 3-4 db when moving from adsl1 to adsl2+.

This page suggests 6818 @46dB (ADSL1 attenuation).  If we take the above statement at face value, then @49dB gives 5568.  Experience suggests that good lines can though deliver significantly better than Kitz advises.
Sight of the op's error counts would be useful.

Re: What can I expect from 21CN?

Jim,
I understand your call, but the OP's ADSL 1 line is in that zone where the difference could be minimal, which is why I also said if the line is good, it might achieve better than the Kitz figures.  This is I suggest right in the middle of such it and see space!  Shocked

Re: What can I expect from 21CN?

I thought the kitz max speed calc works on input of ADSL1 attenuation, so you don't add to the attenuation if you want an ADSL2+ estimate.
