Waiting on Activation

Hi folks,
Although my official activation date is the 11th, my line's been sync'd at 8mbps for days already... can anything be done to activate my account any sooner?
Cheers,
Steve

Re: Waiting on Activation

Hi Steve,
Thanks for letting us know.
I've marked your account as active now so hopefully you should be able to log on a few days early.
Please let me know if you have any difficulties.

Re: Waiting on Activation

nice one..
my date is the 10th yet my line still appears to be unhooked. my sync light is just flashing.
like i said the last time i signed up ( years ago) i was on in 3 days. i hope it's soon this dialup i have is painfully slow!
what i don't understand is, and please put me out of my misery here, why my line light went solid when i had my old ISP's details in it yet none with the new ones? i mean surely if i not synced with the exchange then i am not synced with the exchange
i had no message saying i had adsl on my line when i ordered
It's confusing..

Re: Waiting on Activation

Hi Pete,
Synchronisation will have no bearing on the settings that you are using.  It's merely the connection from your router to the exchange so I'd be really surprised if your router is actually gaining synchronisation with the exchange when you change your settings.  It doesn't make any sense Smiley

Re: Waiting on Activation

Different exchanges, different BT teams, different workloads, different delays.

Re: Waiting on Activation

Sorry forgot to post saying thanks - it's all working fine. Although I'm sync'd at 8mbps I'm getting around 2mbps - I guess this will increase over the next week?
Sorry folks that I got there before you  Grin

Re: Waiting on Activation

Keep an eye on the hgh speed broadband page (on portal under connection settings).
When you complete the 10 day trailing period BT will send a Bras profile which includes your IP profile which determines your data rate. This is what the high speed broadband page shows.
If it has not changed after 15 days raise a ticket and get it investigated.

Well at the moment it says:
Your High-speed Broadband Service
Your current broadband speed is 8000 Kbps

Re: Waiting on Activation

It should change when BT send PlusNet the Bras Profile data. For now it looks like PN have set it to 8000 so you get the best speed during the trial period.
@pcoventry76,
No its a BT Wholesale IPstream Max order.
BT treat all ADSL orders the same whether its from Tiscali (LLU), Be (LLU), BT Wholesale (IP Stream). The order always says LLU as its an ADSL order as opposed to a phone line order.

Re: Waiting on Activation

Ah just did the speedtester.bt.com and got:
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 2000 kbps
    DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)  8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1847 kbps

So my line's currently 2mbps not 8mbps as plus net's site thinks it is. That's pleased me then! Should improve from here on in (yeah I'm an optimistic guy  Wink )

Re: Waiting on Activation

No, BT are currently limiting your data rate to 2000Kbs but you are on an 8Mbs connection as your sync rate shows. The IP profile should change either in the next few days or after the trail period completes + a few days.
