Re: WOW how slow can it get ?

Good Morning dennisb66,
I've just checked your account and have also run some tests. It appears that there may be a fault causing the drop in speeds here. Could you please visit https://faults.plus.net to log the fault with us. I have added some supporting notes to your account for when we come to deal with this for you.

Re: WOW how slow can it get ?

Your profile on our side is at 0.5Mb and BTs estimate is the same, it looks like your profile has been up and down over the past few weeks but dropped at the start of March (around the 2nd). Have you added anything to the line, and are the speeds still the same with the router in the master socket and all other line items removed?
Also when the router's in there, does the sync speed increase? I'm not sure what speeds you're showing as actually being connected at.

Not sure if this helps Matt. I only noticed how slow my D/load speed was when i went on to P2P.
Surely the profile showing at plusnet and BT should be around 2Mb

Re: WOW how slow can it get ?

dennisb66,
I've just had a look at your fault ticket and have run a couple of tests for you. It looks like the BT profile is currently 1250kbps on the downstream so I have changed the profile on our side to match that. Please tests again and let us know how you get on.

Re: WOW how slow can it get ?

Hi again dennisb66,
Glad to see there has been some improvement here but if you have had speeds over 2mb in the past it would seem that your connection's synchronisation speed has dropped somewhat. This can be due to a fault but is commonly caused by internal factors such as other equipment connected to the line. I have sent a ticket to you on your account with some suggestions for you so we can get this issue diagnosed and dealt with.

Re: WOW how slow can it get ?

Thanks Paul and Adam for investigating my drop in speed. However having located a fault and increasing my speed by approx.1meg  up to 1.6 meg I am still 25% below my usual speed. Huh Not entirely satisfactory from my position.
You have quoted the following details......
A breakdown of BT's acceptable speeds is as follows:-
For a line speed of 512kbps, a minimum of 100kbps is acceptable.
For a line speed of 1Mb, a minimum of 200kbps is acceptable.
For a line speed of 2Mb to 8MB, a minimum of 400kbps is acceptable.
Angry
This might be acceptable to BT, but certainly not acceptable to your customer who is handing over the cash.
