Very slow upload speeds - Technicolor TG582n

Hi all Smiley
Am having some issues with upload speeds, I'm not sure what could be causing them all of a sudden. I think I've provided the right info below but if not then please let me know and I'll post what I can find.
I have a Technicolor TG582n Router.
Any advice is hugely welcome Smiley

Re: Very slow upload speeds - Technicolor TG582n

You could get the upload uncapped which should help - staff on here can do that for you
Is that speed test wireless or wired

Re: Very slow upload speeds - Technicolor TG582n

That's a wireless speed test. Should I carry out a wired test as well?
How do I get the upload uncapped? Do I need to switch plans? Or is it just something the staff can do? Smiley

Re: Very slow upload speeds - Technicolor TG582n

Upload uncapping doesn't require any changes to the product the staff on here can do it over night
Please do the test wired as there were some problems with the Plusnet router with upload speeds on wireless a while ago

Re: Very slow upload speeds - Technicolor TG582n

I've just done a Wired Speedtest. Slightly faster but still not back to normal I don't think...
How do I get a staff member to arrange this for me? Do they just check the forums when they can? Smiley
Thanks for your help!

Re: Very slow upload speeds - Technicolor TG582n

That is about right for the upstream sync speed
Regarding staff picking it up - it should happen today but if not I will flag it up tomorrow
Can you advise the firmware on your router - information here http://192.168.1.254/cgi/b/info/?be=0&l0=1&l1=0 but please don't post the serial number of the router

Re: Very slow upload speeds - Technicolor TG582n

I didn't say it was good - I said it was about right for the upstream sync
I would suggest updating the firmware on the router http://products.plus-payh.co.uk/firmware/ assuming that you have the one without a usb port
However if you don't have a Windows PC it will need to be done remotely by Plusnet

Re: Very slow upload speeds - Technicolor TG582n

Thanks Jim. I'm afraid I am a Mac user. Hopefully this will flag up with someone soon.
What sort of upload speeds would you expect once it's been uncapped? That minimal upload speed is eaten up as soon as one of my flatmates is uploading photos and videos to Facebook!

Re: Very slow upload speeds - Technicolor TG582n

I would expect an upload sync speed of just over 1000kbps
However even with that uploading a video will kill it without some sort of QoS on the router and the Plusnet one doesn't offer that as far as I am aware

Re: Very slow upload speeds - Technicolor TG582n

Hi glynandbex,
Just to follow on from the work that Chris did for you, I've arranged for a firmware update to be pushed to your router remotely so this may drop your connection for a few minutes, There's nothing to worry about, this is just the router installing the new firmware and rebooting. Your router will then reconnect naturally and you should then be up to date!
Please allow the router to do this of it's own accord to avoid any issues  Wink

Re: Very slow upload speeds - Technicolor TG582n

Hi Adam
Thank you for organising this.
I'm afraid to say, however, that my flatmate came and switched the router off and on again when he noticed internet activity had ceased (!!) and I fear the upgrade did not complete. If you are able to try again I will ensure this doesn't happen this time around!
Many thanks

No worries.
This is being pushed at around 4pm today. Please ensure that the router isn't switched off at any time.
