Hi,
Anone use VPN . If so which product... is the Tor one better than for example Hotspotshield and are there any disadvantages to using a VPN. Does it slow down surfing?

Any VPN will add latency to your connection, TOR probably more than a paid for VPN.
I use privateinternetaccess and have had no issues.
