VPN Outlook

I am trying to contact my Microsoft Exchange server using VPN and Outlook on my Option 1 ADSL.
I can make the VPN connection with no problem but it will not sychronise with the server. Support have suggested upgrading to Option 2 ADSL. Does anyone have experience as to whether that will solve the problem?

Re: VPN Outlook

Hi Peter,
You have been advised correctly by the PN Staff.
From this page it shows quite clearly that Option 1 is not suitable for VPN connections.
Whilst you might authenticate and connect successfully, the profiling on option 1 will not allow VPN traffic to pass.
I would most definitely upgrade to option 2.
Have a look to see what you think.
Any problems, feel free to shout.
Best regards,
Roger.

Re: VPN Outlook

Although PlusNet say that VPN is blocked on Option 1, it is in fact throttled to 128Kb.
This change was made soon after the product was launch, due to customer request.
Double check, your firewall settings, ensuring that the PlusNet Broadband Firewall is switched off.
Also from my (limited) knowledge of VPN, it's authentication uses different ports to the data.
Also you need to ensure that you are using the correct subnets/netmasks.
