VMBU Error - Reporting Free usage as Peak usage - SOLVED

I started a major update of my Linux (Ubuntu) Laptop just after midnight last night and this morning, VMBU is reporting 339MB of Paid For usage on Saturday. VMBU is reporting a paltry 13MB of Free usage for Saturday.
It really doesn't matter to me because I have plenty of usage allowance but it is WRONG nevertheless.

Re: VMBY Error - Reporting Free usage as Peak usage

I am not sure which bit you are complaining about but I reported an equally odd occurrence

I started downloading the standalone installer for Vista SP2 64 bit (591MB) at about 11.00pm and when I left the computer it was showing about 4 hours to complete.
Looking at my usage it doesn't match which means first that a lot of the usage was unrecorded and also the part before midnight seems a bit high
I was assured that it matched the CBC recorded usage

It is the Paid For usage that is wrong. Indeed, I think that the figures are reversed.
Sorry OJ, I didn't see your post. Smiley

Re: VMBU Error - Reporting Free usage as Peak usage

Not funny any more! It is now reporting 699MB of Peak usage for Saturday.  Normal usage is ~ 30MB per day.

Edit: Could this be connected with my setting an arbitrary Data Transfer Watch limit?

I am sure you have got it correctly secured but if you use wireless has someone tapped into it

Re: VMBU Error - Reporting Free usage as Peak usage

On further investigation, it appears that:
a) The Linux update used the extravagant usage of 8MB!
b) The Vista Laptop treated itself to two downloads:
330MB at around 13:00 hrs on Saturday
340MB at around 18:00 hrs on Saturday
This doesn't tie in with the Vista updates record so it is still a mystery to me. However, I am now certain that the PlusNet VMBU reporting is correct and I apologise for doubting its accuracy
p,s. Yes, Wireless is well secured.

Re: VMBU Error - Reporting Free usage as Peak usage - SOLVED

From the size and assuming you are using Vista 32 bit it could be sevice pack 2 downloaded twice

Re: VMBU Error - Reporting Free usage as Peak usage - SOLVED

AD and OJ,
I was expecting the download time to tie up with the update time or precede it but the update time (see screenshots) are timed BEFORE the downloads occurred.
Yes, it does appear that the SP2 update was downloaded twice and this ties up with my Netmeter logs.
I can see why Linux has such a strong following. In contrast. my UBUNTU Laptop used 13MB to bring it up to date, not having used it for about 3 months.

Re: VMBU Error - Reporting Free usage as Peak usage - SOLVED

Sorry, I should have explained. I got the hourly download data by raising a Ticket. Netmeter doesn't report below daily usage.
