VAT reduction: Plusnet calculator not working correctly?

I was paying £20.99 for the PlusNet Broadband Pay as you Go with included 15GB bandwidth package, with the invoices on the member centre showing Unit £17.86, VAT £3.13, Gross £20.99.
Does everyone agree I should now be paying Unit £17.86, VAT £2.68, Gross £20.54?
I'm actually being charged Unit £17.88, VAT £2.68, Gross £20.56
I noticed this when checking out the details for another problem on my billing.

Re: VAT reduction: Plusnet calculator not working correctly?

I did wonder about doing that - but if you have a look at ticket 27873750 you'll see that my account is in enough of a mess already! I don't understand the response I got to the ticket.

John - Looking at your last 2 invoices, you have been charged at £20.56?

Re: VAT reduction: Plusnet calculator not working correctly?

James, The invoices don't match the amounts taken from my bank - however the amounts taken do match the amounts stated in the service notices (which don't match the invoices).
All the details are on ticket 27873750

Re: VAT reduction: Plusnet calculator not working correctly?

Well, that's an interest sequence of payments!
I'm not entirely sure what's going on, but I'll ask finance to have a look.

Re: VAT reduction: Plusnet calculator not working correctly?

Wouldn't "I haven't a clue what's going on" be more accurate?

Re: VAT reduction: Plusnet calculator not working correctly?

I thought PAYG/15GB was £19.99 initially when VAT was 17.5%, guess I have that wrong.

Plus £1 for a domain = £20.99

Re: VAT reduction: Plusnet calculator not working correctly?

Cmon guys this is serious stuff and its happening to a number of users now.  Manual intervention on individual accounts is OK, but what about the more significant number of users who may not have noticed yet?
Things involving VAT errors can get VERY messy if not resolved in a timely manner.
The billing system does seem to be very fragile and any change to product or pricing sends it into a spin for an extended period.  Result, lots of work for an already overworked (but still remarkably amiable  Kiss) Comms Team.   Is it time for some development effort to be diverted to getting the range of problems with Billing / Credit cards / DD resolved to make the system stable once more.

Re: VAT reduction: Plusnet calculator not working correctly?

I totally endorse what Maurice says ( and he didn't prompt me by PM !!  Wink  )
I personally have suffered many billing errors, and yes James has personally been very helpful - but it shouldn't be necessary. The systems should work, and staff should be totally conversant with it.
QA audit on the system and processes seems to be needed.
I've added a comment on this on the ask the boss thread - as I believe he should personally be aware and investigate.

Re: VAT reduction: Plusnet calculator not working correctly?

Could anyone who had the £1 extra for a domain prior to the VAT reduction check they are being billed the correct amount please.
Checking the calculation again, the amount I am being billed currently works out as (19.99 / 1.175 * 1.15) + 1.00. That is the price of the base product has been reduced for the VAT reduction, but the VAT reduction has not been passed on for the £1 domain.
