Usenet/ftp problem

Is there a problem with usenet and ftp today, I can access web sites ok but both usenet (giganews) and a couple of ftp sites all time out. I've tried 2 different news programs with the same results. Ive also disconnected my router for a couple of minutes and reconnected but with the same result. It was all ok last night - just since I came home lunchtime.

Re: Usenet/ftp problem

Hi guys,
It will be related to this. If you've disconnected and reconnected between now and 10pm last night then chances are you've been assigned a default traffic management profile (that heavily restricts binary Usenet traffic).
I'm about to update Service Status but in the meantime you'll find a bit more info here.
Try a disconnect and reconnect and see how you get on.

Re: Usenet/ftp problem

Bob, I have just disconnected/reconnected and no change. Your priority problem page mentions slow speed, well I can't get connected let alone a slow speed. Even trying to retrieve a text message from a newsgroup the connection just times out. I am also trying to connect to oiswww.eumetsat.org via ftp and this connection also times out.

Re: Usenet/ftp problem

That's synonymous of the default traffic management profile. 100kbps rate limit and in the lowest possible priority traffic queues.
What I don't understand is why the disconnect/reconnect didn't fix it. Will relay this info back to the engineers who are working the problem.

Re: Usenet/ftp problem

@paulgul, can you try another reboot? Things are looking slightly better now.

Re: Usenet/ftp problem

Yes, ftp and usenet ok now - haven't actually check the speed on usenet but it connects ok.
Thanks Bob
