Usenet - Time Outs and 0.3k :(

HI, been up since 4am and went to download via Usenet using AstraNews, normally get around 770k, so far I have been getting 0.3k and most of the time nothing at all due to connection timeouts.
I know it's not AstraNews as I have a second non-Plusnet line my kids use for gaming and using that line I get over 720k.
There's noithing reported on the service status page.

Re: Usenet - Time Outs and 0.3k :(

Same problem here.  Switched to my 3 account and had no problem, so it isn't directly astra at fault.
I did notice a service update at 3:51am that said:
Quote
We are currently investigating a problem with our usage aggregation system. This problem may result in the View My Broadband Usage tool not updating in a timely manner and may also cause some customers to have a default traffic management profile applied.
This may result in lower than normal speeds on non-interactive traffic such as P2P and binary usenet.

This sounds like it applies here.

* If you've disconnected/reconnected between 9.00pm last night and now then you will have been assigned a 'default traffic management profile' from 9.00pm last night. This profile heavily restricts time sensitive activities such as Peer-to-Peer filesharing and Binary Usenet. It may also affect the use of some high-definition streaming services and download sites/servers.

Would you expect VPN to also be affected? I'm getting very slow and unstable VPN connections since last night.

This is causing my Rapidshare downloads to be very slow, too slow to use.

Yes, all that kind of traffic will be affected.

For anyone having problems loading certain sites I refer to my previous post
@puddy as the service status says, "Our traffic management platforms are 'frozen' at 9.00pm last night. Any traffic management restrictions that were applied to your account at this time of the evening will still be in place now.
