GUys can anybody shed some light on this problem with Usage, about the same time most months i get this message informing me that my usage has exceeded 11gb and i cannot for the life of me come up with the reason why? this month some of the figures are:
4.7gb Web
E-mail 184.79mb (most is spam)
Peer to Peer 6.28gb (i do not use any things like bit torrent or such)
Broadband Phone 1.14Gb (i have not got broadband phone)
other 55b.15Mb (i put this down to Backround noise)
and there is a few more items on there as well. I have raised this a couple of times with F9 and the answer i got is that it is correct. I can honestly say i do not use this much, i dont download films or games or anything so how the hell is this so high, i currently run a secure wireless system, is there any way i can check all this at all? because i am getting a little worried now.

BBC iPlayer?
News channel with video?
Internet radio?
You could try running NetMeter to monitor the internet activity on your PC.

Hi Baldy,
Is this a connection solely used by yourself?
Do you have any children?
For that much usage to be put down as P2P, it has to be happeninig unless something is very wrong.

To echo the above comments:
1. Change your wireless key, change your SSID and set your SSID to 'not broadcast' in your router.
2. Consider using MAC address restrictions on your router (not particularly useful on its own, but another additional layer of defense)
3. Install Netmeter and monitor your own usage
4. Turn the broadband firewall on at Plusnet's end
5. Activate 'Surf' on the Plusnet Portal at https://portal.plus.net/surf/ ; - This should block most P2P immediately.

i know this sounds stupid but i do not download, because of the usage! i would love to download some music or the next episode of lost, but dare not do it because of the usage allowance, i just cannot justify the amount F9 say that i am using honestly

Hiya,
I'd certainly consider following some of Barry's excellent advice regarding the encryption, SSID and MAC address restrictions on your wireless router and see if this helps to reduce the amount of traffic that is being downloaded.
