Upload stuck at 64k!

I'm on a long line, but usually get about 700-800k upload. But it's recently syncing at 64k - help!

I've replaced the router (was using 2wire, and tried Plusnet router) but it's still the same. Any ideas?
Edit: that's a line sync of 64k

I've tested your connection, however it's unfortunately not currently in sync.

Looking at the connection history for your line, it may be worth going through our troubleshooting guide. If that doesn't help, please raise a fault here.

Thanks Harry - it's down due to the 2704n not being able to sync. 

I'll dig out a phone to test the line!

I'm still stuck at 64kb!

The phone line is quiet. A bit echo-y but no clicks, pops or whistles (from a quite line test).

There's normally no phone attached, and the router is straight into the master socket (via a filter). I think this is purely due to line length - I'm on 63db attenuation and 7db snr.

Is there something making the 64kb rate stick, or will this lift over time?

Afraid it's made no difference.
