Upload speeds

What's the fastest upload speed I can get without switching to fibre. (Can't - rented accom.)
I've browsed the packages but doesn't seem to mention.

Re: Upload speeds

On a 21CN exchange I get 0.7mbit on mine, but that is a long line.  The closer to the exchange the better, you could get just over 1 mbit if close to the exchange.  So as along as your exchange is 21CN enabled its free but I believe for 20CN you have to pay extra for getting the upload speed cap removed

Re: Upload speeds

with ADSL(Max) you can get about 800k if you pay for max premium.
With ADSL2 it's can go to 2.5mb on Annex M but PN keep changing their mind as the whether they want to sell it to residential customers, otherwise it's about 1.2mb as a maximum.
Of course it all depends on your line length and quality..

Re: Upload speeds

I get a pretty good line here, and close to exchange.
Does upload speed improve with a business package?

Re: Upload speeds

If you add Annex M onto a Business Package, it is possible that it'll increase.
As a standard though, without Annex M, the upload speeds, assuming they are uncapped will be the same.

Re: Upload speeds

Potential upload speeds on a business package are indeed higher as Plusnet won't supply Annex M on a Residential Package last time it was checked and I don't believe that has changed

can't find anything about Annex M on the business packages pages.
Can you tell me anything about extra costs, etc?

Re: Upload speeds

The information is available here: http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/speed_guide/broadband_speeds.shtml
The cost of this is £10 ex VAT per month for business customers.

Re: Upload speeds

Ah! Didn't find that page obviously!
Thanks Chris.
But confused by chart on the page you've linked.
From that I guess I must be 'ADSL2+ (Residential products)' as I get over 16Mb/s download. Which means I should have 1.3Mb/s upload, which I don't have?
(Have a feeling I've probably got this all wrong - based on comments above, but I can't figure it out.)

Re: Upload speeds

The upload speeds aren't guaranteed but you should be getting something around 1Mb. What sort of speeds are you seeing on the upstream?

Re: Upload speeds

Getting 0.77 upload at the moment, according to BT, which is better than I thought.
£10 ex VAT is quite a lot for not much it seems.
OK, so cloud is not such a bad idea after all  Grin

Re: Upload speeds

Is that via Wireless or Ethernet?
If on Wireless, what speeds do you get via Ethernet?

Re: Upload speeds

Ethernet.
19.55 down. Amazing  Cheesy  never been that quick before. No complaints there!
So maybe I don't want to tinker with this?
Was just wondering last night about serving audio files (talks) from here. But there are plenty of other, probably more sensible, options!
