Upload speeds today 6 December

Am on a Manchester exchange
Download speed profile reasonably stable at approx 4000 kbps
However upload profile speed has dropped today from long term approx 600 kbps to 288 kbps.
BT speedtester today giving actual 228 Kbps
Any one else seen this?

Are you able to plug into your test socket so that we can rule out any internal issues?

Can do but very doubtful if my wiring is at fault.
The man from BT has already been
Will try to see what happens if I simply re boot the router
Was trying to avoid this as I am on a learning period.
Will let you know the result in due course

Following my last post, I have rebooted the router which is still plugged into the usual socket, not the master socket.
The Upstream profile has risen to 608 kbps - actual speed 482 kbps
Downstream profile / rate virtually unchanged (3726/ 2672 Kbps)
So it looks like it was hopefully a glitch on my line not a general problem.
Now a matter of wait and see what happens during the new learning period.

If you're happy with that then that's ok. However, if you do try the test socket it may reveal an issue with internal wiring.

Thanks for your reply. As I said I'll wait to see what develops. The number of disconnections is no worse on the current phone socket is no worse than it was whilst connected to the mastersocket.
I realise that this may not be the right place to raise this subject, but whilst on upload speeds, I assist someone who has a newly replaced Plusnet Thomson 585 v8 router. This, like the old v8 one, gives an upload speed when on a wireless connnection of about 50% of the speed when wired.
The user can live with this situation as it is not a real problem, but out of interest, is a solution save changing to a v7 router in sight?

A firmware update may help with that, we can usually trigger those remotely if needed.

Firstly
The upload speed problem I had yesterday seems to be solved. It has been stable and at expected level since reboot yesterday pm.
Secondly
The Thomson v8 router is not mine, it is at the house of someone I assist.
The router was a replacement and is very new. I would have thought it had the most up to date firmware already.
What version do you propose?
If it is different to the one already installed and the user decides to change, they will be in touch directly via PlusNet Help and Support.
I presume this is the best route for them.

If the user runs a speed test via ethernet and then via wireless to compare the upload speeds we can look into rectifying this for them.

The speed tests which have been run on mybroadbandspeed.co.uk using 2 laptops and a desktop are attached
You will see that the router details are
Thomson Router TG585 v 8 running firmware 8.2.7.8
