Upload speeds cut by half...again, another SNR reset?

Long story short.
Im with PLUSNET since December. Upload speeds was capped and unable to use Skype (main reason to have broadband really) so asked to remove it.
It helped but only up from 0.4 to 0.6 Mb/s. Then ADSL1 I have been on has been changed to ADSL2 (it meant to be ADSL2+ as it is available for my line but been told it has been automatically set to ADSL2). No change in upload speeds.
What really helped was an SNR reset. Upload speed reached max 0.83Mb/s and all looked great.....but lasted only a week :/.
Been plugged in through test line and done quiet line test and all seems to be fine.
Another SNR reset done and it was ok ....for 2 weeks this time Smiley
Third and last SNR reset fixed it for a month Cheesy so things getting better:)
Now Im down by half on upload speed again 😕
This topis has been started on different post but in the past 4 months grew up to 5 pages so decided to start a fresh one and point out the issue straight away. (hopefully forum moderator will keep it)
I have been previously advised to upgrade firmware to my technicolor or try defferent one but do not have another one ( and 0 knowledge) to try and don't feel confident enough to upgrade firmware. I dont want to make things worse.
Also Oldjim advised to run routerstats but again very little knowledge. I have started it up but not sure if set up right (see attached).
I have also attached pics of router stats and BT diagnostics before reset and after.
What do you say guys, another SNR reset?
thanks in advance for your help

Re: Upload speeds cut by half...again, another SNR reset?

Hi there,
I don't see an issue with an SNR reset so I've just done that for you.
It's worth noting that the connection is dropping a little from what I can see, whilst that shouldn't effect the SNR reset or be an issue in general I'd still keep an eye on that situation.

Re: Upload speeds cut by half...again, another SNR reset?

To me it looks like your UPLOAD SNR is at 12 which is causing the low upload speed, maybe plusnet can fix it at 6 for you like they can on the download SNR.

Re: Upload speeds cut by half...again, another SNR reset?

Your upstream SNR is currently at 12.5db. We set the SNR Target to 6db so something is causing the SNR to 12.5db - this will be pushing the upload speeds down slightly.
Your line is in it's 10 day training period following the SNR Reset that Adam carried out on 7th March so there's nothing we can do at the moment to reset the line again.

Re: Upload speeds cut by half...again, another SNR reset?

@ rpucyk - As you say in the OP, you are on ADSL2 rather than ADSL2+, presumably because you have your router set on Auto and it has determined that you will have a more stable connection that way, however that would indicate that there is still an underlying fault that needs to be addressed.
You could try forcing your router to be on ADSL2+ to see if that improves the upload, I doubt it will improve the download, but try it as an experiment.

From those line stats are you quite rural and/or on a long line?

Re: Upload speeds cut by half...again, another SNR reset?

@buntrob Im about 2 miles from exchange cabinet
@Jaggies I requested a switch to ADSL2+ at the early stage of my broadband issues (about 3 months ago) and it went to ADSL2 only.
I had a look into router settings and I coudnt find any option to switch to ADSL2+, my knowlege on this is very limited unfortunately.

Re: Upload speeds cut by half...again, another SNR reset?

I don't use a Technicolor router myself, so someone else will have to come up with the appropriate settings page, but you should be able to select the specific ADSL2+ mode as opposed to the Auto or MultiMode setting that most routers have on by default.

Re: Upload speeds cut by half...again, another SNR reset?

I found my (not Technicolor) router achieved at upstream speed around 600-700 on auto (ADSL2+) but always gets 882 when set for ADSL2.
Whatever the problem is, it's probably also indicated by the large numbers of error seconds in the stats. Another SNR reset will likely do the same thing as the previous two did, with the improved speed only lasting for a couple of days because the underlying problem hasn't been fixed.
