Upload speed problem

I just did the BT speed test and I got these results:

1. Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
Download  Speed
2.24 Mbps

0 Mbps 2 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Download speed achieved during the test was - 2.24 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.8 Mbps-2 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 2.23 Mbps
2. Upstream Test:  -provides background information.
Upload Speed
0 Mbps

0 Mbps 0.45 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 0Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 0.45 Mbps

Can anyone tell me why my upload speed is 0Mbps?
Ta much.
Edit: I'm on Unlimited Broadband (ADSL). Every time my girlfriend tries to upload her CV to a job search website, our internet seems to just crash. I don't know what's going on.

Re: Upload speed problem

Hi Akira,
Are you currently using a wired or wireless connection?
I've noticed that your line is having a few drops;

Is this you causing this trying to rectify the speed issue?

Re: Upload speed problem

Hiya Chris,
Wired connection. I did try disconnecting and reconnecting from within the router a few times. But I tried that a few days ago when it started playing up and it seemed to resolve it then. But it's still really bad tonight as well.

Re: Upload speed problem

I can see that we've got a phone fault logged that may be causing this issue. This is set to be repaired by the 18th March, hopefully we'll see an improvement then.

Re: Upload speed problem

I have to ask. Who do I speak to about getting some form of refund for this month? I mean, my bill is due on the 21st March but I have only had 2 days of decent internet and I think it's unfair to ask that I pay a bill for a month that I haven't had my service.

Re: Upload speed problem

Once your fault has been rectified then I'll certainly take a look at your account and see what can be done.

Re: Upload speed problem

Do you run any file-sharing software or anything else that might be swamping your upstream? If a wireless router, is the WiFi key secure - could someone be leeching your bandwidth?

Re: Upload speed problem

Hi Chris,
I got a text saying that BT engineers have already came out and the problem with my broadband is fixed . . . The BT engineers came to my home on Monday 11th March to fix the problem with my broadband, when they left it was working fine. This ran for 2 days, on Wednesday my broadband started playing up again and now it's not working at all!! I was wondering if you could get the BT engineers to come out again as there is obviously another problem with my phone line.
Thanks.

Re: Upload speed problem

Hi there,
Is there any noise on the line following the fault fix? If not I hope the replacement router does help, please let us know either way. If it doesn't we can pass the already open fault ticket to our broadband faults team and they'll be able to get it sorted for you.

Re: Upload speed problem

Hi Matt,
No, there is no noise on the line following BTs fix. The phone works fine now. Does anyone know how long it takes for the router to be delivered?
P.s. I'm a bit annoyed that I've got to pay a months bill on the 21st of March, yet I haven't had more than 2 days of broadband. Hopefully the new router sorts this.

Re: Upload speed problem

Hi there,
My router was delivered to me this morning, I set it all up and still it wont connect to the internet! I've tried plugging it in to the normal socket and the BT test socket and I've tried changing the micro filter. Nothing is working and I cannot connect to my broadband at all! Is there anything else I can do? Thanks in advance.

Re: Upload speed problem

Hi akira,
Looks like the line isn't syncing since the work was done to fix the phone fault. I've passed this on to Chris Pettitt who's raised a fault for you and updated the ticket, we'll keep chasing this for you and also make sure to keep you updated.
Hope that helps.

Re: Upload speed problem

Just an update. I got in early from work just now, did a speed test (at speedtest.net) and things look like they're back to normal. Thanks for all the help, guys!  Cheesy
