Upload speed has dropped to < 60Kbps

Hi,
Noticed my upload speed has dropped from around 300kbps to less than 60kbps.
The router is reporting downstream rate of 2944kbps, upstream rate of 64kbps.

speedtest.btwholesale.com reports:
Download :2.31
Upload: 0.00
Ping: 81.13
Thoughts?

Re: Upload speed has dropped to < 60Kbps

It looks like the connection has been dropping out quite frequently for the past few days. I'd imagine errors caused by that from what I can see on a diagnostic test have caused a low profile to be set on the upstream.
We should be able to reset that once the connection is stable again but we'll need to concentrate on that first so I'd advise raising a fault about that: http://faults.plus.net

Re: Upload speed has dropped to < 60Kbps

Thanks Adam.
I haven't noticed any drop outs but I did disconnect router a few times when we had an issue with xbox live connectivity.
I will disconnect any none essentials (upstairs phones etc) and leave it a couple of days.
Will
a) the upstream speed auto increase again if the disconnects stop?
b) will you be able to tell me if the connectivity is stable in a few days time (given I haven't noticed any issues myself)?

Ive found the "Linksys hidden page" status which is showing the following. Are these as expected?
DSL Upstream Rate:   64 Kbps
DSL Downstream Rate: 2944 Kbps
                     Down         up
DSL Noise Margin:     9.9 dB       7.0 dB
DSL Attenuation:     58.0 dB      31.5 dB
DSL Transmit Power:  18.7 dBm     10.9 dBm
Back in Dec I was getting:
DSL Upstream Rate:  352 Kbps
DSL Downstream Rate: 3168 Kbps
                      Down        up
DSL Noise Margin:    6.3 dB      6.0 dB
DSL Attenuation:    58.0 dB      31.5 dB
DSL Transmit Power:  18.1 dBm    12.5 dBm
Thanks

Re: Upload speed has dropped to < 60Kbps

Hi there,
Your upload speeds may improve if there is a stable connection. We'll be able to check your recent connectivity in a few days.

Re: Upload speed has dropped to < 60Kbps

I know I should have checked earlier...but better late than never. Phone line is noisy. Got  BT engineer coming on Monday to check. Hopefully that will fix disconnects - which I assume are still happening (?) as I did see at least one yesterday eve.

Hi there,
Looks like it is still dropping at the moment, did the engineer attend yesterday at all?

Re: Upload speed has dropped to < 60Kbps

Hi all,
my upstream rate has dropped again - down to 224. My downstream has also dropped.
Shame as May/june it has been great since the bt engineer replaced wiring outside our house.
Are you seeing disconnects your end. Not noticed anything my end. Probably doesnt like the hot weather 🙂

DSL Upstream Rate:   224 Kbps
DSL Downstream Rate: 3232 Kbps
                     Down         up
DSL Noise Margin:     6.0 dB       6.0 dB
DSL Attenuation:     59.0 dB      31.5 dB
DSL Transmit Power:  18.4 dBm     12.1 dBm

Re: Upload speed has dropped to < 60Kbps

Hi,
I've just had a check before I go home and we haven't seen a disconnect for over 3 days.
Those figures seem to be better than the ones you posted previously? Although they are not quite back up to what you were on in December, they do seem to be increasing.

Re: Upload speed has dropped to < 60Kbps

Thanks Scott. Good to hear no disconnects.
The speeds are better than April ... but worse than they have been inbetween. Can't recall exacts but my upstream was 370 ish and downstream was high enough to allow 3mbit... currently 2.5mbit.
I blame the weather Smiley
Is there a way to get visibility of disconnects (as you see it your end) without needing to ask?

Re: Upload speed has dropped to < 60Kbps

Even the 352 kbps from December was unusually low - you would expect to always get 448 kbps upstream, even on a long telephone line.

There's not, but give us a nudge if you require one.
