Re: Upgrading firmware of Technicolor TG582n?

Done, should take around 10-15 minutes. The router will powercycle and the lights will flash, please don't turn the router off while this is happening or reboot it.

Re: Upgrading firmware of Technicolor TG582n?

Awesome Chris - thanks very much. I'm not currently at home but the router et al is all on. Am I right in thinking the new firmware has TOD restrictions that can be applied?

Re: Upgrading firmware of Technicolor TG582n?

Yes, it can, under >Home Network >Access Control.   You can also restrict certain web addresses at >Toolbox >Parental Control >Configure .....BUT you need to make sure that no-one can login into the modem/router and change the settings or have access to reboot/factory reset it, although rebooting shouldn't cause a problem.

Re: Upgrading firmware of Technicolor TG582n?

Good afternoon Chris,
Having only just joined the Forum hopefully I'm doing this correctly.  Smiley
I've been following the thread about upgrading my TG582n Router from Firmware Version 8.4.4.J to Firmware Version 10.2.2.B but unfortunately without success.
Using compatibility modes within Windows 10 I've managed to run the Upgrade Wizard which completes the 'Starting the upgrade mode and transferring the firmware' stage where the 2 progress bars each show 100%.  Unfortunately though it then fails at 'Installing the new firmware on your device' stage.  I have tried many times but with no luck.
With this mind please can you do a remote firmware update to the latest version for me?
Many thanks in advance for your help.
PS Do you need any more information from me?

That's been sent, please don't reboot/power off your router while this goes through.

Re: Upgrading firmware of Technicolor TG582n?

Hello Chris,
Thank you very much indeed for your quick reply which is greatly appreciated.
I've been out of the house until now (2pm) and the router was left switched on as usual.  However, I'm unsure if the update has been sent yet because having just checked the router info it is still showing Software Release: 8.4.4.J rather than what I understand is the latest 10.2.2.B.
Your further advice would very welcome please.
Many thanks,
Barry

Ah, the upgrade failed.
Let me push that through again.

Re: Upgrading firmware of Technicolor TG582n?

I'm getting occasional TG582n reboots with a 'KERNEL Warm restart' message in the log and also seeing occasional wifi dropouts.
My Plusnet supplied router is:

Product Name: TG582n
Serial Number: ***********
Software Release: 8.4.4.J
Software Variant: BW
Boot Loader Version: 1.0.5
Product Code: 3684778A
Board Name: DANT-T
NB. The router has a USB port.
Is there a more up to date firmware than 8.4.4.J for this variant of the TG582n?
If so, could you remotely install it please?

Re: Upgrading firmware of Technicolor TG582n?

Hi there. Yes the relevant firmware would be 10.2.5.2.FO (or EO). (That's the same model as mine - btw 10.2.2.B is NOT suitable on this model!). But you have to configure FO or EO once installed for ADSL or FTTC. I'm not sure how/if that would work if pushed, you probably still have to do that final configuration yourself.
Chris hasn't been posting on the forum today, but he might see this tomorrow, otherwise it will be next week.
