Upgrade threshold breached

Chaps,
the following was reported on my line:
"Internal re-grade planning rule upgrade threshold breached"
Any ideas what this means?

Re: Upgrade threshold breached

Looking at your ticket, it seems that your circuit / exchange is contended. It being amber, BT are aware of it and should be upgrading to alleviate problems.

Re: Upgrade threshold breached

I'm going to show my ignorance now but isn't a circuit always contended?

Re: Upgrade threshold breached

Sorry, contended more than usual. Smiley
It seems extra capacity is required.

Re: Upgrade threshold breached

The circuit will have a certain amount of capacity. When that capacity crosses a certain threshold (say 80%), it will trigger an upgrade so that users on that circuit will not experience a degraded service.

Re: Upgrade threshold breached

Ah, OK, thanks.  Seems fairly straightforward.  Although as I'm on 20CN I very much doubt BT will do anything about it anymore.  Or can anyone contradict me (he says, hopefully!)?
Fibre will allegedly be here after the summer, but is it likely anything will be done in the meantime?

Re: Upgrade threshold breached

I'd like to think more capacity will be looked into, but I cannot say for certain.

Hmm, I think the wrong thread was locked here.  This was simply an info one.  Never mind.

Well not really, this thread directly addresses the problem you actually have, which is one of congestion, not a connection problem that the other thread was giving the impression. And more to the point, this thread has Plusnet input addressing the congestion problem, so sorry if you feel this isn't right.

Re: Upgrade threshold breached

I don't mean to be difficult, but Plusnet also raised a ticket based on the other thread, so for continuity I should have thought that one would be best kept open.
But it's no big deal, really.  Happy to go along with what everyone thinks is best.  Thank you for taking the trouble to explain.  I did PM Stat but he couldn't be bothered to reply, unfortunately.

Re: Upgrade threshold breached

Well the other thread does have a link to this one, and no-one except CRT staff will likely reply to the thread anyway, which Tony is already doing Wink

Re: Upgrade threshold breached

Our faults team have passed it back although it looks like they haven't took any action on the VP.
I'm going to see if I can get that done for you.
