Bit of a long story. I'm on a legacy fibre+. FTTC. Although where I live says we can only get fibre, max speed 32Mb/sec I am on fibre+ and regularly hit 40Mb/sec.
Just got an email saying about the digital switch over and can have internet only and save £2/month. No problem, have not used the phone for years.
But! Contrary to the email saying fastest and more reliable I have been told I will see a drop in speed.
I'm sceptical of that comment, but explanations on a postcard please.

@briston If you are already on a 80/20 profile, as it appears you are, then the removal of the voice component should have zero effect on your connection speed.

That's what I thought. I'm only on that profile because years ago Plusnet offered fibre + at less cost than fibre. No brainer. That's when I found that once on that profile I got higher speed. Seems that on fibre I would be throttled. Interestingly no other supplier will give me that profile. Agreed I don't get the 80/20 speeds but I do get more than previous.
What's the good of phoning to check and be told I'll be worse off? Should I phone and ask for... Who?

If you mean on 'fibre' a SOGEA (no phone) connection, no, you wouldn't be 'throttled', those connections are effectively exactly the same as you already have.
