Upgrade Router Advice

Morning everyone. I am looking to Upgrade my Router. The Plusnet issued TG585V8 I have getting long in the tooth, dropping connection and is not up with the latest N technology so it's time to go.
Can anyone recommend a good router that meets the following criteria.
At least 4 ports
Wireless N with strong signal.
Secure Stable connection
I have been a loyal plusent user for a few years now...can i get an upgrade through Plusnet?
Regards
LB

Re: Upgrade Router Advice

Hi LB,
We've got just the router for you, all it will take is a call to our Customer Options team and they'll trade you a TG582n for a years commitment.
Here is the spec sheet http://www.technicolor.com/en/hi/digital-home/mediaaccess/dsl/wireless/adsl/technicolor-tg582n
It really is a great router, let me know what you think of it if you decide to take one.

Re: Upgrade Router Advice

I have been thinking the same thing myself!
The newer TG582N that is now supplied by plusnet seems to be getting very good report's from a few users.
Can anyone using the plusnet supplied TG582N give some feedback here please?
How does it compare to the TG585 v7/v8?

Re: Upgrade Router Advice

Thanks for the replies. Going to do an initial search online for reviews but feedback would be appreciated.
It looks like you can pick on up for £40 shipped so is that worth a years commitment?
And would I have to change my current unlimited plan to one of these new one?

Re: Upgrade Router Advice

The TG582N is the free router supplied by Andrews & Arnold which is quite a recommendation. At their prices they can afford to provide what they think is the best.

I am a rocking horse on techy matters, so I am not questioning Matt's comment. However tthreseem to be few independent reviews, Those from Amazon FWIW customers seem to give a slightly less favourable ring, Elsewhere in searches folk appear to have port forwarding issues as with the 585 v7/8..
I may be weak minded Sad Smiley but not tweak minded, but is the 582N as locked down as 585 v7/8?
No one has to agree with my opinion, but in the time I have left a miracle would be nice.

Re: Upgrade Router Advice

I never take the Routers provided by ISP's there is always a compromise and rarely the latest technology used.
You always get what you pay for

Re: Upgrade Router Advice

Hi guys,
you'll have to give our support centre a call and pay £4.99 for P&P and agree to a 12 month contract and they'll arrange that for you.

agree to a 12 month contract

Pardon?
Forgive me for pedantry, but I assume that's not quite what you mean?
I assume that the normal 10 day contract notice period continues to apply as far as the broadband service is concerned, but that if the recipient of the modem does exercise that option to cease the broadband supply within 12 months of receiving the modem, then they are invoiced for it's cost, which I believe is currently around £40.
That's quite a different thing to a 12 month broadband contract & there is already some confusion among users about the difference.
Or have I missed something ...?

Re: Upgrade Router Advice

I suppose you could think of it as a 12 month contract with a £40 cancellation fee!
