Untrusted certificate error on mobile.

Howdy all  Cheesy
Does anyone else partake in a spot of mobile browsing?
I'm asking because I have Madasafish set as my homepage on my N95. I know that PN don't have any plans to go into the mobile market at present, but whenever I connect to the Madasafish homepage I get a warning saying "This site has sent an untrusted certificate."
Any ideas  Huh

Re: Untrusted certificate error on mobile.

What browser are you using? I've just tried Opera Mini on my N95 and aren't getting that error.

Re: Untrusted certificate error on mobile.

Sorry, forgot to say that it only happens with the built in browser. I do use Opera Mini as well, but I find that I can't download themes as easily through Opera.

Re: Untrusted certificate error on mobile.

Same thing happens with me using the built in browser but Opera Mini is fine. Not sure why it's presenting that error though because the certificate looks fine? Undecided

Re: Untrusted certificate error on mobile.

I'm getting the same, only thing I can think of is that the certificate is shows is for *.plus.net when you view it.
Maybe it does see all the chains in the certificate?

Re: Untrusted certificate error on mobile.

Probably something that only Nokia themselves can sort out with a firmware update.

Re: Untrusted certificate error on mobile.

Nope, I reckon I've cracked it! Cheesy
The cert on the Madasafish site is issued by AddTrust and they're not recognised by Nokia as a trusted root authority. You can see this by navigating to Menu > Settings > General > Security > Certif. management (you'll notice it's not in the list).
After a bit of googling, I've managed to find out how to get it installed.

  • Go to www.madasafish.com using Firefox.
  • Double click the padlock in the status bar at the bottom next to where it says secure.madasafish.com.
  • Click 'View Certificate'.
  • Select the 'Details' tab.
  • Highlight 'UTN-USERFirst-Hardware' in the top window and click 'Export'.
  • Under 'Save as type:' select X.509 Certificate (DER) and save it somewhere to your desktop.
  • Transfer the cert to your phone and open it (I emailed it across but I'm  guessing any method would work).
  • Your phone will ask if you want to save the cert, save it and accept the warning that it may be untrusted.
  • Try accessing the Madasafish site again via the Nokia web browser and you should no longer be presented with the error!

Hope that helps!

And I was always told that you couldn't install your own certificates Roll_eyes
Thanks Bob, I'll give that a try later.  Wink
