well, BTOR engineer paid a visit today.  Tested the line and could find no fault.  He re-routed the Master Socket into the study and fitted a Mk 3 faceplate.  Said that it might be REIN but that there was little more that could be done

I started reading this thread and thought exactly the same a jelv before I even saw his post! It sounds like exchange/VP congestion to me
Edit: The title helps cause confusion, because there doesn't seem to be any "connection" problem, it's download & upload speeds that are the issue.

How confusing, 2 threads. Thanks for the link. It would be appropriate to continue with this issue, including the answer to that question on the other thread (as Tony is on the case).
