Unlocked HG612 modems

How useful are they for providing diagnostic stats for FTTC - I understand that they are able to produce the sort of stats that are readily available for ADSL users?

They are a very useful tool to have.
The only downside is certain types of firmware can cause higher error rates which means the line will more likely become interleaved when paired to the ECI box on the street.
The unlocked ECI's is also something to consider if your more technically minded / network savoir faire.

Many thanks for the responses.  I have ordered an unlocked HG612 as there seems to be some very good support for these at the Kitz forum.

You get the usual Broadcom raw data logs & can also graph snapshot and/or fully automated ongoing data on a user determined schedule.
I am a regular visitor/contributor to the KItz forum & also call in here from time to time.

I see its firmware hasn't been updated yet.
Have you blocked the update or is it just that it hasn't happened yet?

It's included in the download zip file ("HG612_Programs-Setting_Up_Instructions.pdf" - in the Scripts folder) & it is also lurking on Kitz.

ive a ECI B(the one with out metal sockets)
is this information relating to my connection i've been concerned about my connection but without stats i've been unsure how to resolve it

I've just been changed from the 612 to the ECI & my download has increased from 37 to 50 Mbs. As to this other stuff you're on about, I haven't a clue!!

The ECI r do seem to be popular with Openreach guys & with a near 40% increase in speed its not hard to see why ....
Although that being said, the new unlocked firmware versions (35)  of the HG612  make it not far be hind the eci r on sync terms.
