Unlimited Fibre Installed 08/05 - Speeds Poor So Far

Hi,
Wondering if somebody can help. I had fibre installed yesterday and the engineer who installed it said my cabinet is capable of full 80/20 and I should receive very near that. I was estimated 69mb download when I signed up for fibre. However, after running numerous speed tests over the past two days I haven't got anywhere near that. I am mainly sitting around 14/15mb download so far. Is this a fault my end or your end? Is it not a fault at all and is this my line adjusting to the fibre?
Also, there is contradicting information being given out from you guys. In the leaflet you gave me with the router it says that for the first 10 days my speed will fluctuate and this is normal while my line adjusts. However, looking through the forum, this information seems to be incorrect where fibre is concerned. Also, in the leaflet it also says that I should restart my router 3 or 4 times in this 10 day period but after looking through the forums it also says that you shouldn't reboot it.
Can somebody look into this for me please? Quite disappointed so far. I don't expect to reach 70/80mb all the time but 14/15mb is not acceptable in my eyes. If this is just my line adjusting then that's fine but after looking through the forum this doesn't seem to be the case.
Below is my latest test from the btwholesale site.

1. Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Download Speed
14.71 Mbps

0 Mbps 77.44 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Download speedachieved during the test was - 14.71 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 16 Mbps-77.44 Mbps .
Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 77.44 Mbps
2. Upstream Test: -provides background information.
Upload Speed
9.48 Mbps

0 Mbps 20 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 9.48Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 20 Mbps

Lastly,

the acceptable range of speedsis 16 Mbps-77.44 Mbps

How on earth would 16mb be acceptable on a line that should be producing near 77mb?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Unlimited Fibre Installed 08/05 - Speeds Poor So Far

I got my fibre installed last week and my estimate was 48meg then when BT man installed his device said 53meg then plus net staff member said my profile was saying 63meg! At first I was getting 15meg then day after install it shot up to my lines speed which is 63meg so I wouldn't worry for now just give it bit of time

Did you have adsl through plusnet previously? I suspect that your current line speed as found at http://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed still says 15mb? In which plusnet system has not caught up with (or more likely hasn't been told by) BTw system so you are still pegged at Adsl speed for downloads.

Nope it says 78mb on there. So is there a problem or is it normal for it to be this slow to start with? I was told speeds would fluctuate but they're not. They're just sitting at a constant 14/15mb most of the time. The most I've got so far is 24mb I think.

Re: Unlimited Fibre Installed 08/05 - Speeds Poor So Far

Okay so below is my most recent test.
Quote
1. Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Download Speed
47.62 Mbps

0 Mbps 77.44 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Download speedachieved during the test was - 47.62 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 16 Mbps-77.44 Mbps .
Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 77.44 Mbps
2. Upstream Test: -provides background information.
Upload Speed
15.56 Mbps

0 Mbps 20 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 15.56Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 20 Mbps

So seems to be improving. At the moment my speeds are fluctuating between 40-50mb. Hit 70mb once. Could someone just let me know if my line is on the correct profile please?

Are you using a wired or wireless connection to the router?

Do you get the same sort of results on speedtest site? it's just thatthe btwholesale speedtest gives me terrible results concerning download speed that dont corrsespond to the speed im actually getting.

Re: Unlimited Fibre Installed 08/05 - Speeds Poor So Far

Hi ryanivo,
Welcome to our community forums Smiley
I've checked over your connection and it's current syncing at just under 80Mb/s, as Jelv asked, are you connecting wired or wireless?

I'm connecting wirelessly and just done another test and everything seems fine.

One happy customer! A huge difference from Sky's 20mb broadband where I was only getting 4mb! (£10 per month) to having plusnet getting 74mb (£20 per month)
Thanks plusnet!

Re: Unlimited Fibre Installed 08/05 - Speeds Poor So Far

If it goes slow again you need to try a wired test to see if it is the wireless that is slowing you down.
