Unbearable broadband speeds

So, for the last couple of weeks I’ve had ridiculously slow internet speeds. I was guaranteed speeds of 5mbps as my cabinet is too full in my area for fibre at the moment (even though my next door neighbour has fibre broadband), yet I’ve struggled to even get 3 or 4.

So yesterday and today, I’ve had around 1mbps download speed and 0.9 upload. I’ve tried calling plusnet customer services but it said there was a 45 min wait, I waited on the phone for 30 mins, and the call just ended.

I’ve a few months left of my contract, and I don’t want to leave to another company.. I just want a decent speed, and reliability!

9/10 times, I just turn my WiFi off on my phone and use the mobile data. As that’s so much quicker. Absolutely awful service from plusnet.

Can anyone advise me on what to do?

Sorry to hear that you're having issues with your download speeds.

I've tested your line and we can't find any issues with your router being in sync at 6.7mbps which means you should be getting speeds of around 5.5mbps.

Can you confirm if you've been connected over a wired or a wireless connection? If wireless it is possible for you to try a wired connection to see if that has the same issue?

I am not getting anywhere near 5.5mbps, so the 6.7mbps is a no-no. It's ridiculous. 

I managed to get through to Plusnet today, who said my line was banded? And reset everything, then said everything should be back to normal in a few hours. Just did a speed test and I'm still getting awful speeds, the best one so far has been 2.7mbps. Which is NOT what I was promised. I also just did a speed test, and my upload speed is only 0.3mbps, which just is not okay for a modern day connection? Surely there's something else wrong. 

Spoke to open reach who also said the cabinet should be upgraded come January.. It's going to be a long few months.

6.7Mbps is the sync speed - this will always be a tad higher than your throughput speed unfortunately. 

Were those tests you ran over a Wired or Wireless connection? 

In regards to your upload speeds, out supplier's state that you should receive "Up to 1" - i'm afraid there is not a more precise estimate to be give for your line. They also do not guarantee upload speeds i'm afraid.
