Unacceptable internet

Re: Unacceptable internet

Ive been having some problems as well, however changing the DNS settings to the google public ones at  8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 seems to have dont the trick
if you can do this via your router it should be simple, you can also do it in windows by changing the network card/devices properties under ipv4
if you have a TG582n router you can telnet into it and type this
dns server forward dnsset flush
dns server forward dnsset add set=0 dns=8.8.8.8 metric=0 intf=Internet
dns server forward dnsset add set=0 dns=8.8.4.4 metric=0 intf=Internet
saveall
exit

Re: Unacceptable internet

Doesn't seem to have made much difference. Rebooting the router (not the modem) fixes it for about 10 minutes then everything goes to hell again. There is usually no problem with the router so I have no idea why rebooting it temporarily fixes things.

Re: Unacceptable internet

same here:  all day in fact . (MYCSH)
Powering off the FTTC modem and router for 30 minutes has given a marked improvement.

Re: Unacceptable internet

Mine has been the same for the last 3 days.
Powering down doesn't achieve anything.
btw running the bt wholesale speed test I get
Download Speed (Mbps) : 0.00
Upload Speed (Mbps) : 15.30
Ping Latency (ms) : 27.38

Re: Unacceptable internet

@mmac
It's worth reporting a fault so we can test the line and see if there's anything wrong.
@pauljeffer
Same for you really.

Re: Unacceptable internet

Considering I've just had a fault fixed and this only happens during peak times, I doubt it's a fault. And I just don't have time to wait 1 hour and 5 minutes for someone to answer at your call centre like last time.
If it's the same next Sunday I will start looking elsewhere.

Re: Unacceptable internet

You can raise a fault via http://faults.plus.net so there would be no need to wait on the phone.
As it currently stands there is only a very short queue (Currently 0) for our tech support teams.

Re: Unacceptable internet

for what it's worth,
I've powered down both bt modem and router, fully disconnected for 10 mins.
Factory reset on router.
After restarting, everything now appears fine.
BT Wholesale Performance test now showing download speed of 66.7 Mbps
