Unable to connect wirelessly with computer and printer

I have a Hewlett Packard Deskjet 3070A e all in one Series printer, operating with an Apple Mac Book on OSX 10.6.8.
The router I have is a Thomson TG58 v8
I am unable to get the printer to operate wirelessly.  The Hewlett Packard support team says it appears there are a number of ports blocked on the Internet router causing communication between the printer and computer to fail.
In order to resolve this issue, Hewlett Packard said that I ask plusnet Internet Service Provider to open the below ports on the router; plusnet said they could not help me, but they did say they thought that the ports were open!!!. Plusnet said I should put the question on the Community Forum.
Hewlett Packard support team guided me through a wireless ad hoc connection and the printer is working wirelessly:
Would like Forum members to give me advice and comments and a possible work around problem.

Hewlett Packard said the printer ports to open are:

• UDP 427 inbound and outbound

• UDP 161 outbound
• UDP 139 outbound

• TCP 9220 inbound and outbound
•
TCP 9500 outbound

• TCP 9290 outbound

• UDP 137 inbound and outbound
The bonjour ports to open are:

• UDP - 5353 inbound and outbound

• UDP - 5928 inbound and outbound
Web services:

•TCP, 80 inbound and outbound.

•TCP, 8080 inbound and outbound.

•TCP, 443 inbound and outbound.
Eprinting:

•TCP and UDP 5222 inbound and outbound

•TCP and UDP 5223 inbound and outbound

•TCP and UDP 5353 inbound and outbound

•TCP and UDP 5357 inbound and outbound

•TCP and UDP 3702 inbound and outbound

•TCP and UDP 427 inbound and outbound
Once the ports are enabled please re-run through the wireless setup wizard, which should resolve your issue.

Re: Unable to connect wirelessly with computer and printer

A Thomson TG585 v 8 I presume?  Running what firmware?  All this stuff about ports is almost certainly a red herring.

Re: Unable to connect wirelessly with computer and printer

The first thing to check is whether the printer is connected to your wireless router properly. Printing the wireless network status sheet should tell you most of what you need to check.
That's RPM to you!!
