Unable to connect to Internet

I am unable to connect despite trying a second router.  I keep getting a log in page for Technicolor which is for the router.  I contacted Plus net support who then went through all troubleshooting.  Eventually the operative said he has exhausted all possibilities and needs to escalate it to the technical department.  He was quite helpful.
The big downer is that it will take the tech dept72 hours or 3 days before they respond!  As the Internet is my life line to the outside world I think that 72 hours is quite a delay.  I have been a customer for a number of years and have never had a technical issue previously except for slow speed about 3 weeks ago.

Sorry to hear that your internet is not currently working. I've checked your line and it appears that there is currently an issue at your exchange. This is set to be resolved later today.
