Unable to VPN Technicolour router

I recently moved to Plusnet. Since the move i am unable to access my work network using the VPN connection.
The service simply sits there and fails to connect.....
Any suggestions and help appreciated
I have the supplier Technicolour router

Re: Unable to VPN Technicolour router

Two possible causes spring to mind...
1) You have the Plusnet Firewall set to HIGH, it must be LOW or OFF for VPN to work.
Check it here https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=firewall ( you will need to login )
2) Some versions of the PlusNet supplied routers had the PPTP alg ( often using for VPN's ) disabled.
See here http://community.plus.net/library/hardware/how-to-upgradedowngrade-the-firmware-on-the-thomson-585v7...
Hope that helps
Edit: just thought, you said you've recently moved to PlusNet , in that case do you have the TG582N router ?
if so look at this thread as this is the likely cause http://community.plus.net/forum/?topic=102798.msg873038

Re: Unable to VPN Technicolour router

I've been trialling a TG582n for a few days, instead of my normal router and PPTP VPN's work fine without any connection unbind.
I've just tried the connection unbind application IKE and it executes fine, are you sure you haven't made a typo?.
If not then post the results of a connection bindlist, it should look something like this
Quote

Re: Unable to VPN Technicolour router

From your bindlist , both PPTP and IKE are already unbound ( they're not showing in the list ), that's why the unbind is failing.
From that point of view you shouldn't be having any problems with VPN.
Have you rebooted the router since trying the unbind ?
What is your PlusNet firewall set to, it needs to be OFF or LOW ?
Edit:It might just be worth trying putting the PPTP binding back if you're using a PPTP VPN
connection bind application PPTP port 1723

Re: Unable to VPN Technicolour router

I have just reboot the router and fired up my work computer... will test the VPN again in a sec.
The firewall is set to LOW.

Re: Unable to VPN Technicolour router

I suspect that the connection unbind doesn't take effect until the router is rebooted.
Anyway happy to hear its working Smiley
