Ukraine Vs. England & network performance on Saturday night

Afternoon guys,
For those that haven't yet seen it, have a read of the blog post here and the Service Status post here.
It's a subject that's also been covered by other ISPs (not least of all BT), and there a number of online news sources like ISP Review who have published articles on the subject.
I've good reason to believe that more than 100,000 people have already signed up and will be tuning in to watch the match via the official channels tomorrow night. Add to that the thousands of people who'll be streaming the event via slightly more questionable avenues Wink
We're on standby in case things get *really* busy however we're quietly confident that we're not going to see anything like when Murray smashed the 2.2Gbps barrier. We may well be proved wrong though, only time will tell...
It's occasions like this when our traffic management platform is really given the opportunity to shine, but even with the precautions we have in place, be aware that you may still experience a reduction in broadband performance whilst the match is being played.

Jameseh's crystal ball needs a polish. When  asked as few days ago "Will this make the Net busy Saturday night?" he replied

I don't think so - people won't generally pay for a relatively meaningless match.

well it worked.
quality of video and sound weren't great esp on 40 inch LCD but on balance better than not seeing it at all. Pleased only paid £4.99 tho. Would have felt cheated had I have paid £12!

Well the Scottish Hydro Electric have water backed up in the Lochs and reservoirs just for such events. The valves are opened, water floods down the mountain, into the generators and the electricity flows into the cities and over the border to England  Grin Grin

The Scottish team flew all the way to Japan for a "friendly" game and lost ! - a long way to fly just for a friendly and not very environmentally friendly !.

Looking at PN traffic graphs on the portal I can't seen anything unusual. Did many people sign up anyway?
