Type of Connection

I have been asked if I am on WBC ADSL2+ or IPStream ADSL Max.  How can I find out.  I use a Netgear DG834v4 but could find no clues there or on the Plusnet connection pages.

Re: Type of Connection

Thanks Jojo.  Is WBC ADSL1 the connection you get if you have in the past changed to ADSL2+ and then " the signal type on the line  has been changed from ADSL2+ to standard" (quote from previous ISP)
because the line was so noisy?

Re: Type of Connection

No, when we change someone over to 21CN we will generally place them on ADSL1 rather than ADSL2+ if they sync below 4000k Smiley

Re: Type of Connection

Thanks again Jojo.  In http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,97223.0.html it was explained to me how the new BT IP profile works and how  the Plusnet profile only went in 500 kbps steps.  As I had better download speed when I was on the default setting I wondered  -  is it possible to manually set my profile to,say, the next step up ie. 3000kbps ?

Re: Type of Connection

Thanks Jojo,
Download speed has gone up so that will not only be 5 stars for customer service and speed but hopefully reliability at the end of the month . (Tbb survey)

Since Sept 11th   my sync has been consistently over 5000 kbps ( currently 5312) with steady noise margin between 6 and 4db and a BT IP profile of  4686kbps. Is it worth switching to ADSL2+?
Given my attenuation I think I can answer my question from this graph  http://www.avforums.com/forums/attachments/networking/28942d1145704731-best-broadband-adsl-att-vs-sp...
