Traffic shaping during off peak hours?

I strongly suspect since I hit level one usage this billing period that my off peak traffic is being shaped.  I'm getting 15kb/s maximum when downloading via http and browsing and loading images is very slow.
Is it possible the shaping hasn't been switched off at midnight? I've see this before and it resolves itself after a day or two.
Does anyone else get this?

Re: Traffic shaping during off peak hours?

Also........I'm on Broadband Premier Option 1 which is about £22 a month and have been for years, is the off peak time still Midnight-4PM?  I read a post that said it was Midnight - 8AM?

Re: Traffic shaping during off peak hours?

Hi SiMania,
I would suggest running a bt speedtest during those times, but your package off peak times are definitely between midnight-4pm

Hi SiMania,
I wouldn't disagree with you at this point but in order to start investigating something like this we would need to start gathering some evidence and take it form there.

Sorry Jo, I've edited my reply, it was a bit rude! I've done a speedtest and results are above.

Re: Traffic shaping during off peak hours?

Hi SiMania,
Just checked your connection logs and up until yesterday there were lots of short connections. This will be the cause of your IP profile dropping. It seems to have been quite steady since yesterday morning and if it continues to remain solid you will see it lift. Can I ask have you made any changes to your set up or if you are using any extension sockets/cables?

Re: Traffic shaping during off peak hours?

No changes to the setup.

Mrs SiMania did mention there was noise (probably the mother-in-law  :D) on the phone that is connected to the master phone socket  that she sorted by reseating the connection, that may have been it?

Re: Traffic shaping during off peak hours?

Hi SiMania,
Tut about the quip! Anyway...
It may have been the noise, but I've just ran a line check and your current sync rate is 7072 so as long as it stays like that it should pick the IP profile up to 6000.

Re: Traffic shaping during off peak hours?

HI SiMania,
We always quote 72 hours, but larger increases are normally a lot quicker.

Re: Traffic shaping during off peak hours?

It's been about 60 hours of my connection being up continuously but still no increase in my profile, do we wait 72 hours before raising it as a fault?

Re: Traffic shaping during off peak hours?

Hi SiMania,
I should really get a life but I can't help checking in on you guys. Anyway, sometimes the router wil show an uptime of a certain amount but this can mean the time the router has been constantly on rather than a drop in connection. Here are the stats from your connection over the last 72 hours:
16:07 04/Sep/2010 N/A   8:3:51 (on going)
04:15 04/Sep/2010 16:07 04/Sep/2010   11:51:48
00:44 03/Sep/2010 04:15 04/Sep/2010 One Day, 3:30:28
17:48 02/Sep/2010 00:44 03/Sep/2010   6:56:0
06:27 02/Sep/2010 17:48 02/Sep/2010   11:20:58
06:24 02/Sep/2010 06:27 02/Sep/2010   0:2:53
06:23 02/Sep/2010 06:24 02/Sep/2010   0:0:43
06:17 02/Sep/2010 06:23 02/Sep/2010   0:6:15
06:16 02/Sep/2010 06:17 02/Sep/2010   0:1:2
06:06 02/Sep/2010 06:16 02/Sep/2010   0:10:21
It's defiitely improved but if it keeps dropping like this then I would sugest connecting the router in to the test socket to rule out any internal wiring issues because someting has started to interfere with the connection.

Re: Traffic shaping during off peak hours?

Hi Jojo
Last dropped connection one was a planned one so it looks pretty stable since whatever caused it to go crazy on the 2nd Sep.  If it is a dodgy phone then I might try to replace it with something else for a few days.
Thanks for checking in, I'm on here on a Saturday night trying to fix my connection so I have no life either!

Re: Traffic shaping during off peak hours?

Hi SiMania,
I do have a life really...honest! Im just staying up to watch the rerun of X Factor as I missed it earlier.
I do hope it stays up in that case. The line check I did before showed a sync rate of 7456 so if it stays like that we should see a profile of 6500.
