Re: Too Slow for YouView

Hmm, not a massive difference between the test socket and the extension, so that at first glance isn't a major issue.
I suspect the main problem is that on ADSL1 you will have an IP profile possibly as low as 1500kbps as it goes in rather crude steps (21CN/ADSL2+ now uses a fixed percentage).
With LLU/ADSL2+ (probably dropping automatically to ADSL2) it was probably more lenient, depending how the TT systems worked.

Re: Too Slow for YouView

As it says in that link:
Quote
You can see your current IP Profile at High Speed Broadband (shown as Current Line Speed ) in My Account or by running a BT Speedtest.

In your account go to https://www.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed and post the result here.
This should show both estimated and current line speeds. Though if you came from TT there may be no estimate recorded.

Cry Worse than I thought, you must have had some bad connections.
If you could consistently achieve this (or anything above 2016kbps):
Quote from: Matt53
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 448 / 2,144
it would be 1.75Mb.

Are you suggesting I could possibly get faster speeds with Plusnet ?
Thanks again

Quite likely, but you did say:

So if a higher speed is possible why don't Plusnet/BT look after their customers better and sort it out ?  Angry
How much "Rigmarole"  Smiley will I have to go through to possibly obtain a faster connection ?

Re: Too Slow for YouView

Because they aren't responsible for interference, poor extension wiring and other conditions beyond their control.
They WILL normally arrange to sort out problems up to the master test socket that are within their/suppliers control, though sometimes, as that is BT infrastructure, it can reach a dead-end.
At present there's no evidence to say where your limitations are and the possible causes.
