Good points are a gain in connection speed, up from just over 19meg to just under 20meg and a WiFi signal up by a whopping 10dB!
Also port forwarding went straight in first time without the need for repeated sledge hammering.
Web Interface also seems to work a bit quicker.
Cosmetically much easier to see and read the LEDs and just maybe it runs a tad cooler.
The USB socket should be very handy for shared/stored stuff on a network, especially if you had a portable HDD attached perhaps although it does take an age to do a "first time sort" of what's there.
Bad points, none so far, has anyone got it to talk fully to Router Stats yet rather than just the basic speeds and s/n margin readout?
Now I just need another one for this line to replace my old 585v7 here, unless Plusnet are feeling generous today that is.
Bad points, oh yes there was just one, strangely it did not come with a user manual of any kind [other than a nice plastic card with your details on] and none seem to be available on the web anywhere, on the other hand it's exactly the same as a 585 so if you know your way round that you're ok but if you're a first time Thomsoner it could be a pain. Perhaps I was just unlucky although it was in a new sealed box.
Looking good so far!!

The TG582N has been in for about a month and has stayed connected unless there have been outside influences!
Connection speed is still improved by about 1meg from 19 to 20 [5%ish]!
WiFi also still shows about 10dB improvement on inSSIDer readings.
I'm going to keep an eye on eBay for another one!!
Bob.

Not too sure how my line results will help but if I've got them you're welcome to them!
Apprentice: Are you on the right thread here?

I was just curious to know why sjrinfroyle's new router wasn't doing the job when he/she is now thinking of getting another make/model.
I was thinking of maybe getting a new router sometime soon, I've never used a BIllion router but have used the 585v6 and 585v7 on my maaf connection.
Sorry to take this thread slightly off your original topic

Quote from: Apprentice What's the problem with your connection and the Billion 7800N you've just recently purchased?
Sorry I'm afraid I still don't follow you, I can't find any mention above of sjrinfoyle having a conection problem or buying a Billion router, sorry if I've missed something?
I was just so pleased with the TG582N staying connected better and at a higher speed than my old TG585v8 that I just had to share the joy!
Bob.

Yes it's been going fine until last evening when my fiddling with registry repair on a dodgy pc on the network caused it to reboot for no obvious reason and my lovely 20+ became 18+, ................ this morning I've got it back to 19.9 but needless to say BT and Plusnet have already instantly zapped my profile once again,.................. roll on the 12th of December!

Quote from: GreenGiant sjrinfroyle: What Stats are you looking for, a full page from Routerstats [which doesn't seem to like the 582N too much by the way]?
Not too sure how my line results will help but if I've got them you're welcome to them!
If you wouldn't mind posting your stats that would be great.
Thanks.
