Re: Think i have been put on the wrong profile

Re: Think i have been put on the wrong profile

Just done a bt performance test it looks as though i have been set on the lower package ?
Download speedachieved during the test was - 29.71 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 16 Mbps-31.36 Mbps .
Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 31.36 Mbps

Re: Think i have been put on the wrong profile

From those figures I'm not so sure that you have a Plusnet profile issue, I suspect that you have a line related speed fault.
Try running through the online fault checker, then once the staff return on Monday you will have provided all the information required, by completing their checks, for them to swiftly assist with your broadband problem.

Re: Think i have been put on the wrong profile

Was that when your fibre service was first installed ? - as having an initial wrong profile seems quite common, but does not usually reoccur.
Out of interest, can you remember what value your "current line speed" was when it happened last time ?

Re: Think i have been put on the wrong profile

I was on the wrong profile a week after it was installed for the first couple of days i was getting 79-80mb/s.I have been getting about 76 mb/s with no dropouts or disconnections, might buy a vdsl router so i can get rid of the bt modem as i don't think its the best been looking at this one  http://www.billion.com/product/vdsl.html has good reviews and the 7800n i used to own was good

Re: Think i have been put on the wrong profile

I had a visist from the bt engineer today he said that he couldn't find a problem and i had a great line and should get the full 80 mb/s but i am still only getting 34 instead of the 76/80 mb/s,i have got shot of the bt modem and bought a billion vdsl2 router but it had no effect on the speed.Could you please advise on what to do next ?

Re: Think i have been put on the wrong profile

I can see you've raised a dropping connection fault, I suspect that's what's been causing the slower speed as the DLM system will have reduced the line speed in an attempt to stabilise the line. Once the drops are fixed we'll be able to reset the line and let it retrain to its best possible speed.

Re: Think i have been put on the wrong profile

Ok thanks, but i had no disconnections or lost packets and my line was stable i just lost half my speed overnight.I have bought a VDSL2 router as i thought that this would be better than having a modem then a router connected to my pc ( my pings have improved and my speed has gone up a couple of meg )
When can you reset my line ? as it looks fine this end and the bt engineer gave it the all clear yesterday

Re: Think i have been put on the wrong profile

Well, it's looking a bit more stable now:
<img src="http://community.plus.net/visualradius/generated/image13820869669433.png"/>
Trouble is, it's likely more stable because the speed has been reduced (that's why the DLM system reduces a line's speed when it detects drops - in order to stabilise the line).
Unfortunately a line reset on Fibre needs an engineer to do the work, though not sure how you've had an engineer out anyway as we didn't book one? The line reset should be done by an engineer once the fault is confirmed fixed.

Re: Think i have been put on the wrong profile

It was stable on the higher speeds according to my router stats.
Something worked getting an extra 20mb/s today, hopefully it will keep going up.
The bt engineer came out put his meter on the master socket and confirmed it all ok,perhaps he ordered a reset ? As i am getting better speeds today
