I could not get the BT speedtester to work with FF3 but it was fine with IE7.

It does work - eventually, but it's a pain having to keep trying Sad
Why doesn't BT sort this problem out?

Re: The BT speedtester is still broken

Because of poor speeds, for the past 18 months, I have tried most days, at around breakfast time, to use BT speedtester, so that I have consistent data to report.
I have Xp Pro and always used latest updates for everything. In Aug 2007 suddenly I could no longer run the test in FF2 (ok in IE) and got the exception that was mentioned at the beginning of this thread. After enquiring on many sites I eventually solved the problem by uninstalling the lastest Java JRE, clearing out any ref to Java in the registry and reinstalling build 1.5.0_08-b03 (otherwise known as JRE 5.0 update 8). Certainly any build 6 and above failed. I have not 'crept' forward beyond update 8, but if I remember correctly, update 15, for version 5  (the last update before version 6) failed.
If you want an older version of Java try  http://java.sun.com/products/archive/ ;
This situation is appalling considering BT's speedtester pages say that it runs in FF and that you should have the latest version of JRE. I thought that the problem might be solved when FF3 came out, but it wasn't, and because of other problems using FF3 (see below) I returned to FF2 and old JRE.
I have also returned from FF3.01 to 2.0.0.16 as I found that the format of the Orange webmail pages did not display properly. Again this is not a problem with IE. When I complained to Orange, they just respond that they do not support FF. In addition Orange have 'updated' their webmail pages (mid Aug 08) and the display in IE or FF is a complete mess with similar pages (eg Inbox Spam etc) not displaying in a similar manner with Icons missing and text/text boxes 'jumping' about the screen!

My wife Uses Weight Watchers web site, that is horrible, complained to them that it dosnt work correctly with FF3, they said we have only tested it with FF1 Crazy

Re: The BT speedtester is still broken

There are still a few webpages around designed to serve up non-compliant HTML to suit the tastes of Microsoft Explorer.

Re: The BT speedtester is still broken

I'm not having any trouble with FF3 but if you are and you want to view a page in IE you can download a plug-in to FF3.  On the odd occasion a page won't view well in FF3 I just click the IE plug-in and it converts the page immediately.  Have a look at:

Re: The BT speedtester is still broken

I have not been able to run the BT Speedtester for many months.
Each time I try, it tells me that my telephone number is invalid and can't be authenticated.
I've tried with IE, Opera and Firefox. They're all the same.

Re: The BT speedtester is still broken

Yep - Just tried BT Speed test - as the PN test is giving me a mere 269 kps d/l - Sure this is wrong!
BT test did eventually run, then stalled at 96% and froze at that

Re: The BT speedtester is still broken

This thread has been running since the middle of August.  In that time many people have complained about the BT speedtester causing problems.  Please, can someone from Plusnet raise this issue with BT and see if it can be sorted out?
