The 512k Bug.

Some of you might have seen in the press over the past few days that some people might start experiencing problems as the internet reaches 512,000 routes. This is due to a memory limitation in older hardware, which means the router cannot hold more routes than 512,000, so doesn't pick new ones up, or drops old ones in favour of new ones.
Does Plusnet have any equipment (to their knowledge) that could be affected by this?

Highly unlikely as it's core routers in backhaul networks where the problem arises.
Funny how its taken so long to emerge though, it's not exactly todays news......  Wink

Re: The 512k Bug.

Hi
We do have a full routing table from the tier 1 providers however our boxes at that point can handle more than 512k routes, currently we see 626563 routes in our core.
