In the process of joining Plusnet ADSL (phone+BB) and before that I contacted my old provider Tesco to check I was free to do so.
In the email their person stated I didn't need a MAC code, just to join an appropriate provider for phone&broadband.
Now the welcome letter from Plusnet on the back says I should provide a MAC code.
Does anyone know what the proper situation is?
Thanks for any help.

A quick google suggests that tesco broadband is actually fully LLU C&W
http://www.thinkbroadband.com/guide/migration.html may help explain things, your going from 'MPF Full LLU' to 'SMPF + WLR'
I think basically plusnet takeover the phone. which will cancel the broadband, then do a new broadband install. Plusnet may be able to do both of these as a simultaneous order, but I wouldn't count on it (very easy to muck up, and not a very common thing to do)

Hi @Chrome, in some circumstances we do require a MAC to transfer the broadband to Plusnet. However looking at you account, it seems in this case we do not need it. If you check your member centre it will let you know your order progress.
