I have been trying to set up a Wireless extender (Netgear WN3000RP) for a relative but although it appears to connect to the router (Tchnicolor TG582n Pro) any pc client attempting to connect is not assigned an IP address by the router DHCP. If I try and connect directly to the router it connects fine.
I thought I would access the router admin console to see what's happening in the router but when I try and connect using the gateway ip address it fails. I got the gateway IP address from a connected client PC using IPconfig. This gives 192.168.137.1 which is an odd private IP address. The only way I can access the router admin interface is using 192.168.1.254.!!!!
This is really odd as normally on most routers I have worked on the router gateway IP is the one you use to access the admin interface.
Has anyone any experience with these issues?
