At any given moment in the universe many things happen. Coincidence is a matter of how close these events are in space, time and relationship.

I got the Billion 7800N before Xmas, and returned it a week later. On ADSL1 it synced 0.5Mb lower than my BT Home Hub 2 (4.5 Mb), and synced 0.8Mb lower on ADSL2 (5Mb Vs 5.8Mb). This is on a line with 47db.
Also considered the TP Link, but have just ordered the Netgear DGND3700. I will see how this performs. Seems to have issues on 20CN Network but seems OK on 21CN.
All depends what you want from a router - I just wanted a good stable sync with strong wireless.

I just want something that won't keep bombing out like my 585v7's
Let me know how the Netgear goes.

We can provide you with a Technicolor TN582 if you're happy to pay the P&P fee of £5.99. I've just answered your ticket by the way, I'm not sure what you mean by problems with router reboots though?

have responded to ticket.
see:

Its just does a complete reboot/reset by itself as if I've turned it off an on again. Both 585v7's I have tried do it.

Been a massive improvement on my connection, very good with my PS3 as well.
Work colleague has switched to one of these TP-Link on plusnet also and has seen a much more stable connection.

I was actually thinking of trying a TP-Link W8960N actually. I have tried all of the best performing routers on my line and the best is the Netgear DG834GT and the Netgear DGND3700 but the DGND3700 has WiFi problems so it is going back.
I hope that helps.

I don't know whether it uses the same chipset. The TP-Link W8960N has the Broadcom BCM 6358 (which allows SNR tweaking) - it's the same chipset as in the Billion Bipac 7800N.
I will be most interested to follow future posts on this item - please let us know what you choose and how you get on.

From what I have read you can't tweak the 8960 SNR - even though the chip is capable. Which is why I went for the DGND3700 - just need to unlock telnet then tweak the SNR etc.

Quote from: David Although Amazon seems to think the 8961 is a newer version of the 8960 - it isn't.
fwiw, the 8961 doesn't seem to use a Broadcom chipset.
Googling suggests it uses Trendchip for ADSL and RaLink for wireless. (RaLink bought Trendchip btw)
