TP-LINK TD-W9980 router advice?

I was thinking of buying this router for PlusNet ADSL:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-LINK-TD-W9980-Wireless-Gigabit-300Mbps/dp/B00NEQZ12Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&q...
If I do buy this router then what settings do I change on the plusnet website after logging into the member centre to make it work with plusnet optimally?
Also what settings do I need to change in the new router to make it work with plusnet optimally?
Any other precautions I need to take before plugging this new router in?
Will a new router reset the 10-14 days stabilisation period?
Also can other plusnet adsl users share their experiences with this router? Is it better than the ISP supplied PlusNet 2704N router?

Re: TP-LINK TD-W9980 router advice?

I purchased one of these eight months ago due to continual wifi dropouts with the PlusNet supplied router and it has worked brilliantly, no more tears. I am not at all technical but is was very easy to set up following the quick set up guide. Only extra info you need is set the VPI setting to 0 and the VCI setting to 38 and connection type PPPoA.

Re: TP-LINK TD-W9980 router advice?

I'm happy with mine, but it's fair to say I don't use it to its full capability - I don't use the USB ports or the print server, for example, so I can't speak to those.
I'm using it on FTTC, so if you get one and get the opportunity to upgrade to fibre, you won't need to change the router, just some of the settings.

It should be plug&play wit PN now, the latest updates have added PN as a supplier, so you just need to select them and put your name/password in and off it goes. Nothing to change on either side.
I've been using one on fibre for past 3 months with no real issues.

Does installing a new router reset the 10-14 days stabilisation period?

Re: TP-LINK TD-W9980 router advice?

Shouldn't, As long as you don't drop the line continuously it should be fine.

Reboot the router, or disconnect the line.

Re: TP-LINK TD-W9980 router advice?

Does anyone know the best optimisation settings for this router for online gaming?
My PS4 is saying NAT Type 2, what does that mean?
Also I cant seem to find any opponents in online gaming in a game that was released 2 months ago, please advise.

No idea about the PS4 don't have one. Check you have enabled upnp in the forwarding menu.

Re: TP-LINK TD-W9980 router advice?

UPNP is enabled in the router but still get the same problem. Or is the online community for that 2 month old game is dead which I doubt.

Is there any specific ports needed? Try running the game and use http://canyouseeme.org to see if the port is open.
