TG585v8 default gateway address as allocated to client by DHCP

I prefer to set a router's IP address to one different from the default.  I was able to do this with the TG585v7 but the TG585v8 is another matter.  I am able to change the router's actual IP address and the DHCP address allocation range but not the DHCP allocated default gateway address which stubbornly remains 192.168.1.254.  This effectively cripples a DHCP using client since it cannot see or use the default gateway.
I guess that the solution to this is to be found in the CLI but having combed the 782 pages of instructions, I am non the wiser.
Is is really not possible to change the default gateway IP address of the TG585v8?

Hi loungehake,
Did you disable the DHCP before changing the settings?
