Had an issue with a plusnet supplied TG585 v7 on my sisters line where it wouldn't let an iPad connect to the wireless. Its on firmware 7.4.4.7 so I tried to update it with the firmware and utility via the community site article but it will not update the firmware and just fails and leaves an orange power light requiring a power cycle. Tried a few times and as soon as the firmware update tool gets to the "installing firmware on your device" stage it fails straight away.
Is it worth trying from an old XP machine to try flashing the firmware again or would it be best replacing the router?

I'd give it a go from an XP machine, nothing to lose really. I think I recall someone else having a similar problem.

Have you tried placing the PC on a static IP address? something like 192.168.1.10 will do.

I guess its the router that's goosed, just will not update ( always get as far as the installing stage and fails straight away) and now wont work with wired connections so looks like will need to sort out a replacement for her.

Does it work back on 7.4.4.7 after a factory reset?

Nope, DHCP is broken on it by the looks of it - it still dishes out IP addresses that are in use by something else which was assigned by DHCP.

See if you can flash it with the original 7.4.4.7 firmware again, worth a go before consigning it to the bin.
