TG585v 8 (8.2.77) & Windows 8

Hi
We have just got a Windows 8 laptop and I need some help getting it connected to the internet. My first problem is with the wired network.  I can get to the router home page OK but I can not get internet access. Can anyone help me ? My experience with Windows 8 is limited, not with other versions of Windows nor Linux though so please be gentle with me. Is my router compatible with Win 8 ?
Thanks

The router doesn't really care about the operating system so this is a Window 8 problem.
Perhaps I should move this to the Windows board but let's see what develops

thanks i tried that steps on your link but it makes no difference. My problem looks the same as when I set up linux machines and the adapter doesn't get the DNS ip from DHCP. I can't see where to check and enter it though

Re: TG585v 8 (8.2.77) & Windows 8

thanks oldjim, giving it a fixed IP and specifying the DNSs worked. Now to get the wireless adapter set up ! EDIT in case anyone else has this problem, my machines work with their IP given by the router but they needed the fixed DNS IP
